About me
Melissa Brunner is a Teacher-Leader Consultant for the Early Literacy/Dyslexia Team for the Kansas State Department of Education, as well as the Elementary Principal and Local LETRS Facilitator for Herington USD 487. Before her role as Elementary Principal, she worked 7 years as the Director of Student Learning/Assistant Superintendent for USD 487, and 15 years as a PreK-12 Speech-Language Pathologist. She still holds her SLP certification through KDADS and her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She believes that educational success for all children hinges not only on a child's ability to decode words, but also on a child's ability to produce and understand spoken and written language.
